Biography

Michaelangelo L'Acqua's career is punctuated by landmark achievements in the realm of music and fashion. In 1999, Michaelangelo was approached by Tom Ford
to be music director of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent exclusively in Europe. In this capacity, he created the musical backdrop to Ford's design collections, with the runways of Milan and Paris showcasing their collaboration for more than two years. Beyond the runway, Michaelangelo was asked to define succinctly the sonic brand identity of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent; consequently, he produced their respective television campaigns, music compilation series and personally DJ'ed all of their global live events.

Back home in the US, Michaelangelo, along with two talented friends, created Onda, a boutique production company. Housed in New York's Meat Packing District, Onda quickly became one of the most sought-after music production teams in the world of fashion. Through Onda, Michaelangelo worked with fashion luminaries such as Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Kors, John Varvatos and Diane Von Furstenberg. Over a period of ten years, Michaelangelo produced over 150 fashion shows for the runways of Paris, Milan, Berlin and New York.

Shortly thereafter, Michaelangelo was signed to Naked Music/AstralWorks as a recording artist dubbed “Onda.” He released tracks on Miguel Migs: Nude Tempo Vol. 1, Carte Blanche Vol. 3, Petite Fours, and for labels Wave Music and Hed Kandi. As his music was embraced by the TV and Film industry, Michaelangelo transitioned to score commercials for such clients as Cotton Inc. (The Touch The Feel Of Cotton), Revlon (Cover Girl) and Puma (World Cup Soccer Campaign 2006).

Additionally, Old Navy called upon Michaelangelo as music supervisor, engaging him to produce scores for commercial spots featuring Lil' Kim as well as their popular Fran Drescher series. Michaelangelo grew his team to include twelve producers creating content for TV, film, fashion shows and standalone albums. To date, Onda has scored and licensed music for nearly 200 commercials. As a record producer, Michaelangelo has executive produced albums for Because
Music/Puma (World Cup Soccer Music Series, Africa Plays On) and Buddha Bar/George V Records (Fashion Week Vol. 1).

Over the past few years, major labels have called upon Michaelangelo to produce large-scale concept records. In 2004, he produced Sony's The Isley Brothers Remix Project, Taken To The Next Phase. In 2007, he was hired by EMI/Capitol Records to executive produce their Nat King Cole Remix project, RE:GENERATIONS,
featuring Nas, Cee-Lo, will.i.am, Natalie Cole, The Roots, Just Blaze, TV On The Radio, Stephen & Damian Marley and many more. This record will be released
worldwide in early 2009.

Recently, Michaelangelo collaborated with Karl Lagerfeld to producer Elle Germany's 20th Anniversary event, hosted by Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.
Michaelangelo scored Elle's two-hour televised event as well as three fashions shows for Chanel, Jil Sanders and 6267. This event brought Michaelangelo's career full circle back to Europe where it all began; once again, he finds himself in high demand in the world of fashion.
